If the Rudd government's profligate spending on various bailouts wasn't enough, this new outrage largely passed under the radar. Now he has found a new object for his compassion in car dealers, used car dealers at that. Who are now due to be the lucky recipients of $2 billion, assuming their credit rating isn't very good. |

Until the international markets crashed, with several leading financial institutions leading the way, Kevin Rudd as Prime Minister lacked any defining purpose to his leadership, and so treated us with various embarrassing attempts to establish his role with the 2020 Summit, the Fuel Watch and Grocery Watch websites, etc. The market crash was a blessing for him, as he then had a crisis to handle, which he has done so in the most visible possible way by finding things to spend money on. So much so that it is becoming difficult to keep track of. |

Basically, these are my views on globalisation and free trade as touted by the IMF’s all knowing world play book on free markets in the last 5 to 10 years. Throughout this document I freely use the term globalisation specifically in relation to free and relaxed trade practices as seen in the world today( in certain areas), and further more to the flow of money in, and internationalisation of, the world economy. |

Of late theres no hiding the fact that the beloved b1rd has been getting very furious with the world at large(more furious than usual). So angry infact that he's been inspired to write a regular rant session for this site. Hopefully he will feel better after venting his furious spleen. "The Tragedy of the Commons" is the theory whereby any publicly owned good will suffer deleterious overuse as anyone and everyone has access to it, and it is in the interest of the individual to exploit it as heavily as possible, as he will be the sole beneficiary of this exploitation, while the cost of the damage incurred is socialised and borne by everyone. This raises an interesting problem for Wikipedia, "the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit." |

As the west wages war in the Middle East, one form of legitimacy that the west seeks is to form alliances with local groups, preferably oppressed, so rather than entering these lands as conquerers we can proclaim ourselves as liberators. All that need be done is find a faction that aspires to western ideals of freedom, democracy, transparent government, and all that. |

Feminism as a movement has been fairly quiet for awhile now, perhaps it ran out of steam, or it just achieved its more reasonable objective of enabling women in the workforce. Though I never quite understood if this was sought after simply to transfer power to women, or if it was believed that women would bring qualities to the workforce absent in a male dominated workforce. |

Within the religion of democracy, the church to which we all belong whether we like it or not, there has always been an ambivalent murmur that while democracy is surely the best system of all, and worth waging wars to impose it upon other countries, this ideal system still does not seem to produce very good government. An incompetent, or corrupt, government, that yet remains popular, often leads the dissenting minority to resent the electoral base that keeps the incumbent party in power. |
