Michael hand - Frank Nugan can you assist with info

What was the specfic name of the green beret unit that Michael Hand served in Vietnam? Could he have trained at fort Banning as well as fort Bragg?

Why did Frank Nugan choose to suicide at little used Forty Bends road outside Lithgow? In 1981 I visited that spot to see that it was a pleasent and picturesque spot? Is this why he choose it? Did he pass by this spot many times so considered it? Did he have relatives, friends associates or connections in the nearby town of Lithgow. What was the specific firearm that he used to dispatch himself to the hereafter.

The scuttlebut about a arms shipment from Australia is vague. Can any one suggest what the shipment might have been comprised of. Were the arms brought into OZ then exported or were they maunfactured here?

Can anyone inform?

Welcome back LamontCranston

Tigger_ here.

My desktop machine has a dead PSU at the moment, so can't log in under my usual nick, as I forget the password, and forget the password to the email account I normally use for that account.

So this is how I feel:

thats not me

I'm not tossel263, unless this is a stunt to draw me out (mission accomplished) this fella was presumably searching for information and found this places old topic & discussion.
I don't know the specific detachment Hand served in during his tour in Vietnam; without going and checking the books I'll just presume he was trained where the Green Berets are trained.
As I recall Nugans suicide occurred on or near his property; his family settled in Lithgow when they migrated here; The Nugan Group - the family owned business his brother ran and possibly involved in Robert Trimboles syndicate - food processing plant was in Lithgow; the firearm has been described as a .22 calibre rifle, the exact make and model I do not know.
Pinning down just who was Bernie Houghton or what he was doing is much harder, a very mysterious and sinister individual, but at least one source went on the record claiming he had aircraft flying for Project 404 (not to mention flying heroin out of the Golden Triangle).
The Joint Task Force found a memo among the Nugan Hand Bank files in the Sydney office that hadn't yet been destroyed, it described a shipment of arms consisting of support weapons: .50 calibre machine guns, M79 grenade launchers, 106mm recoilless rifles, et cetera being shipped to Angola or wherever it was and being paid for in gold. Hand also looked into forming a helicopter squadron to further aid the white government.
At least two versions of the pages that cover Nugan Hand in the 2nd edition of The Politics of Heroin by Alfred W. McCoy are floating around the internet, but both are incomplete and lack the books extensive footnotes. If you live in Melbourne the Richmond Library has a copy. The other book to read would be The Crimes of Patriots by Jonathan Kwitney.

part 2

Migrated from Spain.
Like the first post said the family business was The Nugan Group, I'd assume that'd be the name of the food processing plant.
In fact here we go: http://www.nuganestate.com.au/default.aspx?p=1 (check the 'our company' page) & http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&q=%22The+Nugan+Group%22&meta=&aq=f&oq=
oh and its Griffith not Lithgow, d'oh
and it was Rhodesia the arms were going to, makes that thing about helping the white government make more sense.

rofl rofl rofl.
As always Cranston has come crawling back after a 4 - 6 week departure. We salute you, Lame-ont-Cranston.

The fact that you went to the trouble of creating a new nickname, a ridiculous post about Michael Hand & Frank Nugan with conveniently placed spelling mistakes, then to add insult to injury you RESPOND to that post within a FEW DAYS of it being created shows that you have missed us A LOT and were desperate at finding a way back in.

paranoid much?

Those are some rather extreme leaps you make, I bet you've been seeing me in every new person you've encountered online - maybe even in real life.

Don't pay any attention to Venkman

Tigger_ here. I thought tossel263 was you, but I didn't read the post very carefully, particularly the bit about being in Lithgow in 1981, so must be a newcomer from google then.

Anyway, good to see you back, and on irc too soon hopefully. We shall not allow such an unfortunate situation to develop again.

I am still stuck on my old laptop, effectively locked out of my normal account, but a replacement PSU is in the mail, so normal service will resume in a few days. After all, I have the best experts working on the problem:
