But sadly of late, the authentic individualist crank has been displaced by a more tedious variety known to do things like calculating their daily carbon emissions in order to buy carbon offsets. Whereas the former would at least do you the courtesy of being secretive, in case you stole his idea and rushed to the patent office before he could, the latter sort are determined to bore you with every last excruciating detail of their contribution to saving the world.
